So, whats my backstory

June 4th, 2010Posted by Tom

Here is a quick history of where I have been in this crazy world of affiliate marketing.  I started, like many, by taking the Thirty Day Challenge in early 2009.  However, I used the free website that they offered and got no traffic because it had been banned.  Since I did not know this at the time, I got frustrated with it and put it aside.  Next, I tried to look through the Warrior Forum.  Wow, what a minefield that place has become.  I did not know what to do or who to listen too.  There are tons of people on that site who love to give advice.  Ultimately,  I found myself chasing threads, buying ebooks and systems, asking for advice(and getting some) and generally just being confused.  I describe the Warrior Forum as a big pile of stinking poo filled with diamonds.  Eventually, I gravitated back to Ed Dale.  And thru Ed Dale I found two ladies that have become my mentors.  They are Lynn Terry and Michelle MacPhearson.  Both of these ladies are highly successful affiliate marketers.  I will talk more about why I selected these two in a later post.

So now I am at a point where the keyword for me is Action!  I have been muddling about and, truth be told, I have learned alot.  But now is the time to take what I have learned and go make some money.  I am working on my first website and it should be live this week.  It won’t be a huge moneymaker but I need to get moving so I can learn.  My plan is to build 10 to 15 websites in the next month or so, and then reevaluate where I am at regarding traffic and sales.  Can’t Wait!

You go Tom. Your path sounds a lot like mine and I too have settled on Lynn and Michelle as my main mentors. I’ve probably “invested” thousands of dollars on my education and it is just now starting to get profitable after about 9 months of beating my head against the wall. Affiliate marketing is a lot of time consuming hard work, not the “get rich quick” life that many of the courses lead you to believe.

I am still in the education mode but I am working on my first site. I won’t name my sites here for now just to protect myself. I am going to try to do some offline stuff to see if I can help build a little cash flow to finance my education, like going to NAMS. Thanks for the comment :)
